Did you know there’s an official tool to check how safe your international destination is before you travel?
The U.S. government has a Travel Advisories map that rates countries from Level 1 to Level 4 based on safety and security risks, and those advisories are reviewed regularly.
Level 1: Exercise normal precautions.
This is the lowest risk level.
Level 2: Exercise increased caution.
There are higher safety or security risks, so stay more alert.
Level 3: Reconsider travel.
This means there are serious risks you should take very seriously.
Level 4: Do not travel.
This is the highest warning level due to life-threatening risks, and U.S. government assistance may be very limited in an emergency.
Before you book, check the advisory level. A few seconds of research can help you travel smarter and safer.
Travel Advisories are reviewed on a schedule:
Levels 1 and 2: every 12 months.
Levels 3 and 4: at least every 6 months.
They can also be updated sooner if conditions change significantly.
